Our Networks

Below you will see our networks within Aviva.

Some locations have 'Unite in Aviva' reps based amongst you on site, whilst some of the smaller sites or Home workers fall under our seconded senior reps.

Workplace Network

Our aim is to understand the roles & rights of a workplace rep, and the basics of employment law. They work to understand the structures of Unite and how this can be used for support in the workplace and Unite and our members can best both implement and change policy. They have the skills & confidence to support members in grievance & disciplinary situations. In addition, they know how to work & campaign as part of the Unite team – locally, politically, and globally.

Equality Network

Our Equalities Reps promote equality and fairness for all, including actively opposing prejudice and discrimination on grounds of gender, ethnic origin, religion, class, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, caring responsibilities; and to pursue equal pay for work of equal value. They collaborate with the Company’s Diversity & Inclusion team to raise awareness not only within the Company but the financial industry and beyond.

Health & Safety Network

Our Safety reps have a wide range of rights, allowing them to be involved in major safety decisions and assessments. They're trained to spot hazards at work, assess risks, carry out inspections and negotiate improvements with management. In addition, they understand the law (civil and criminal) and how it applies in our working lives. They are a vital link between our members, Unite the Union, and the Company to better protect in the workplace both physically and mentally.

Environment Network

Our aim is to make sure that our members' voices are heard as Aviva's Sustainability Ambition is put into practice and we transition to a more sustainable way of working. We aim to provide our members with Sustainability educational resources that they can apply in both their professional and personal lives. We aim to work within Unite at Aviva as well as in collaboration with Unite Environmental Reps in other Insurance and Financial Services organisations to improve Sustainability practices both within our branch and within the wider Union. We aim to use our Network's funds to support effective Sustainability Initiatives with accredited charity and NGO partners. 

Learning Network

A Learning Rep's role is to understand the structures of Unite and how to use these to support members in the workplace. Their aim is to understand learning needs and barriers to learning which also involves working with management, learning providers and other organisations.

A focus on promoting, supporting & arranging valuable learning in the workplace. They are often involved with work on facilities, learning and recognition agreements.

Aligned Unite Reps Network

These are Unite in Aviva workplace reps who sit in on Your Forum consultations and are there to represent Unite's collective view (but not individual Unite members) in relevant constituencies.
